About Us

Wee Buns Films are the Producers of ZOO, the amazing story of a young Indian elephant, a woman and a city (Belfast) during the Blitz of 1941.

Wee Buns Films was established in 2009 and made its first feature film, ‘Cup Cake’, in 2010. We currently have three feature films in development, you can see them on our CURRENT PROJECTS page.

Wee Buns Producer, Katy Jackson, has worked on commercials and short films for the past 20 years. While continuing to develop Wee Buns feature film projects, including our current project ZOO. She also co-produces other film projects. In 2013 she co-produced  the horror/thriller “XMoor” with the Fyzz Facility which premiered at C4 FrightFest in Leicester Square, in August 2014. In early 2014 she produced “Magpie” a short film prequel to “The Survivalist” also with The Fyzz Facility and she line-produced “The Survivalist” feature film (BAFTA AWARD NOMINATED 2016) in mid 2014 which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, New York in 2015. Towards the end of 2014, Katy line-produced “A Patch of Fog”, directed by Michael Lennox who recently won a BAFTA for his short film “Boogaloo and Graham”. She line-produced “The Truth Commissioner” for BT9 Films in early 2015 and then produced a new feature film due for release in 2016. She is producing three new feature films in 2016.

Katy has worked closely for many years with freelance writer and director, Colin McIvor, who is writer/director of “ZOO”. They have made many high-end commercials for a number of prestigious clients, such as, BT, Kelloggs, Glaxo Smithkline, Danske Bank, Lucozade, DOE, NIO and Phoenix Gas.  They have won a number of awards including PANI Gold and Silver and Bronze Astrid Commercial Award in New York.  Colin has most recently directed a music video for The Cranberries, commissioned by Universal Music, for their new album ‘Roses’, and has also directed “The Sparticle Mysteries” for the BBC. Between them Katy and Colin have produced a number of award winning short films including ‘Charlotte’s Red’.

Wee Buns Producer, John Leslie, is currently engaged in preparing ZOO to film in 2016. He also designs and art directs for TV Commercials and Film. He has recently designed the feature film “XMOOR”, and the short films ” Magpie” and “Insulin” for The Fyzz Facility and  Wee Buns’ own short film “Control”, which premiered at the London Short film festival in January 2015. He art directed the feature film “The Survivalist” in 2014. John recently designed “The Death of a Projectionist”, a short film by Jon Beer and Out of Orbit films and has designed a new feature film due for release in 2016. Coming up in 2016, he has two short films and three feature film designs.

Wee Buns Films are co-producers on the Ripple World Pictures feature film “Never Grow Old”. This is a western in true gold rush frontier style, written and directed by Ivan Kavanagh and is due to film soon.
